Joseph Joseph, president of Liga Deportiva Alajuelense, addressed questions about the team’s current situation following their recent loss to Deportivo Saprissa at Estadio Ricardo Saprissa. The defeat has raised concerns among fans and prompted scrutiny over the club’s performance.

After expressing dissatisfaction with the officiating in the match, Joseph also discussed internal matters within the team. When asked if Óscar Ramírez’s position as head coach was at risk, Joseph responded: “No, no, no… Not at all.”

He acknowledged that the team’s results have not met expectations. “It is not normal what is happening; we have a low performance percentage and we are not happy,” he said.

Regarding the departure of assistant coach Marcelo Sarvas and whether another assistant should be brought in, Joseph explained: “Marcelo Sarvas received a job offer that he could not refuse and we were not going to stop him. He is no longer here and there is nothing to gain by dwelling on it. As for reinforcing the coaching staff, that is more of a decision for Óscar. We support him, trust him a lot, and that is more his decision.”

Joseph also commented on the squad’s strength despite recent injuries or absences: “No, I don’t feel that way. I think we have a stronger roster this semester than last semester.”

Óscar Ramírez remains under pressure to improve Alajuelense’s standing after Hernán Medford secured three points for Saprissa in their first meeting from opposing benches.
