A woman’s body was discovered in an advanced state of decomposition at an apartment complex in Guápiles, Pococí de Limón. The Organismo de Investigación Judicial (OIJ) in Guápiles is conducting an investigation into the incident.
Authorities received a report shortly after 5 p.m. on Friday when someone alerted emergency services about a deceased person inside one of the apartments. Officers from the Fuerza Pública responded and confirmed the presence of a body that had been decomposing for some time.
According to preliminary police information, the deceased is believed to be a woman who worked as a nurse at a local medical center. The apartment complex is located approximately 700 meters north of the Instituto Nacional de Seguros (INS) offices in Guápiles.
Judicial agents arrived at the scene before 7 p.m. and continued their inspection of both the interior and exterior areas of the property late into the night. The complex has only one gate and is surrounded by high walls and a curtain that blocks visibility from the street.
Neighbors stated they were unaware of what had happened and could not identify the deceased individual due to restricted visibility and lack of information.
The investigation remains ongoing. Authorities have not specified whether removal of the body will take place Friday night or be postponed until Saturday.
