The Banco Central de Costa Rica (BCCR) published a series of updates on its official Twitter account in March 2026, addressing issues related to digital security, new technological tools, and financial inclusion initiatives.

On March 11, BCCR warned about fraudulent online profiles misusing the institution’s logo and the image of its president. [March 11, 2026]. This message urged the public not to click on suspicious links or share sensitive information and encouraged reporting through official channels.

The following day, March 12, BCCR announced the launch of a new mobile application for economic indicators. [March 12, 2026]. Download links for both iOS and Android platforms were provided in the post.

Later that same day, BCCR highlighted a collaborative effort with Banco de Costa Rica (BCR), Banco Nacional de Costa Rica (@banconacionalcr), and Mastercard to introduce a prepaid card aimed at unbanked populations for use in public transportation. [March 12, 2026].

These updates reflect ongoing efforts by Costa Rican financial authorities to strengthen cybersecurity awareness among users as well as expand access to digital financial services for broader segments of society.
