Banco Central de Costa Rica promotes financial literacy and launches economic indicators app

The Banco Central de Costa Rica (BCCR) has announced updates and initiatives to improve public access to economic information and promote financial education among young people. In a series of posts on its official X account, BCCR highlighted the features of its economic indicators app and activities conducted during Global Money Week.

On March 19, 2026, BCCR published a message inviting users to explore Costa Rica’s economy through its mobile application: “Conozca la economía costarricense de forma fácil y confiable con la app Indicadores Económicos del Banco Central. Descárguela y acceda a más de 1.000 indicadores. Disponible en: iOS: https://t.co/UesNtzvl1Z Android: https://t.co/hXlabeU3Ui https://t.co/3OdYtSIztN”.

Later that same day, the institution shared an update on its participation in financial literacy events: “En el marco del Global Money Week, el Banco Central de Costa Rica, en conjunto con las superintendencias financieras, impulsó una jornada donde los niños fueron protagonistas y aprendieron sobre finanzas personales y la importancia del ahorro. https://t.co/mYbw4Za5Bs”. This post referred to collaborative efforts between BCCR and financial supervisory bodies to educate children about personal finance and savings.

On March 20, 2026, BCCR reiterated the availability of official economic data through its application: “Todo lo que necesita saber sobre la economía de Costa Rica está en una sola app. Descargue Indicadores Económicos del Banco Central y acceda a datos oficiales presentados con gráficos claros. Disponible en: iOS: https://t.co/Sa0jkfjY1k Android: https://t.co/wv2eKbdDyt https://t.co/9NiP5to2xZ”.

The Banco Central de Costa Rica is responsible for maintaining monetary stability and providing reliable economic statistics in the country. The launch of digital tools such as the Indicadores Económicos app reflects ongoing efforts by central banks globally to enhance transparency and support public understanding of macroeconomic trends.
