Banco de Costa Rica (BCR) has announced that individuals who have lost important documents during the holiday season can request replacements or duplicates through various channels. These include digital platforms, physical offices, Puntos País, and Puntos Tucán.

At Puntos País locations, services are available for replacing licenses, passports, DIMEX cards, or obtaining a digital signature. Appointment calendars open gradually throughout the year, with current availability across the country.

Appointments can be scheduled free of charge via BCR’s website at www.bancobcr.com, the BCR Móvil app, or by calling 800-BCRCITA (800-227-2482). The bank emphasizes that only the person whose information matches the scheduled appointment will be served and only for the specific requested service.

For emergencies or special cases, users may email citaspuntopais@bancobcr.com to explain their situation. When an appointment becomes available, they will be contacted promptly to schedule it.

Those whose driver’s licenses are about to expire may renew them up to three months in advance. Additionally, individuals who pass their practical driving exam can obtain their license on the same day without needing an appointment at BCR’s Puntos País located near MOPT offices.

Information regarding requirements for each Punto País process, fees, office directories, and hours is available on the Punto País webpage.

For those who have lost their identity card and need a replacement after having already requested one within the same calendar year, payment for a new document can be made through several options: BCR’s virtual office under “Cuotas y Planes” at www.bancobcr.com; using the BCR Móvil app in the “Payments” section under “Government”; at any BCR branch nationwide (by cash or card), including at BCR kiosks; and at Puntos Tucán by cash or debit card. A list of Tucán points and locations is provided online.

After making payment, citizens must visit a TSE office to request their new identity document.

BCR reiterates that booking appointments for Punto País services incurs no additional cost and can be managed independently online or by phone. No sensitive information such as PINs or card numbers is required when scheduling—only an identification number needs to be provided.
