Banco de Costa Rica (BCR) announced on April 6 that it has renewed its “esencial COSTA RICA” licensing, marking a continued commitment to high standards of excellence, innovation, social progress, and connection. The announcement coincides with the bank’s anniversary month.

The renewal confirms BCR as an institution that meets both national and international competitiveness standards. This recognition allows the bank to carry the Country Brand, which is awarded after a thorough evaluation process based on five values: sustainability, excellence, social progress, innovation, and Costa Rican linkage.

According to the bank’s statement, BCR received top marks in categories such as excellence, innovation, social progress and connection during the evaluation process. The corporate licensing model is described as a tool that brings together companies and institutions under a shared vision of development based on sustainability and positive societal impact.

Currently more than 780 organizations participate in the Country Brand initiative from various sectors to stimulate economic activity and generate quality employment opportunities across Costa Rica.

The licensing process took about two months and included assessments in several areas of the bank before confirming compliance with competitive models and institutional values. The license is valid for 60 months from official granting with an interim review at 30 months.
