Banco de Costa Rica (BCR) will begin selling 2,600 commemorative coins from the “Emblematic Sites of the Provinces” collection on Wednesday, September 24. This edition features the Casona de Santa Rosa in Guanacaste.

The coins are issued by the Central Bank of Costa Rica (BCCR). At the same time, currency with a nominal value of ₡25 will also be put into circulation for use as legal tender.

Each coin is priced at ¢9,050 regardless of its presentation. The coins can be purchased at various BCR branches across the country: Liberia and Nicoya in Guanacaste; Central Offices, Paseo Colón, and San Rafael de Escazú in San José; Barrio San José in Alajuela; as well as branches in Puntarenas, Cartago, Limón, Heredia, and Quepos.

Branches will have a limited number of coins available. Sales will continue while supplies last.

According to BCCR policy, each person may purchase a maximum of two coins to ensure broader public access and to prevent later speculation.

“The images of the coin were shared by the BCCR.”
