Banco Promerica Costa Rica announced on Apr. 25 the launch of its new Plan Metas, a savings plan designed to help customers set and achieve specific financial goals.

The initiative aims to make saving more purposeful by allowing individuals to define what they are saving for, such as travel, education, emergencies, or peace of mind. According to the bank, the plan enables users to select their target amount, time frame, and preferred currency. Each month, an automatic debit from a Banco Promerica account or credit card transfers funds directly into the savings plan where they begin earning monthly interest.

Customers can use Plan Metas for various objectives including trips, studies, end-of-year expenses like marchamo (vehicle tax), emergency funds or significant purchases. The bank allows multiple active plans at once and offers flexibility with terms ranging from four to twelve months in either colones or dollars. Customers can also make extra contributions when possible and start with accessible amounts as low as ₡5,000 or $10.

Opening a Plan Metas account is available through several channels: online via Promerica en Línea using a form submission; at branches; or by calling Solución Promerica at 2519-8090. Additionally, those who open an account before November 30 will be automatically entered into quarterly raffles where three winners each receive ₡150,000 deposited directly into their savings plan.

The bank notes that early withdrawals or partial cancellations incur a commission fee of three percent on the withdrawn amount. Full regulations are available on Banco Promerica’s website.
