Banco Promerica announced on March 23 that it supported the financial education of more than 350 primary and secondary school students in Costa Rica as part of the fourteenth edition of Global Money Week, held from March 16 to March 22.
The initiative aims to provide young people with practical tools for better money management at an early age. Educational sessions took place at Colegio Técnico Profesional de Purral, Liceo Napoleón Quesada Salazar, and Escuela Filomeno Blanco in Goicoechea. The activities were coordinated with support from the Municipality of Goicoechea, which helped facilitate collaboration with participating schools.
Students participated in talks, workshops, and interactive spaces focused on key topics such as responsible money management. Secondary students engaged in discussions about the role of credit in personal finance, while primary students took part in idea labs designed to help them understand what money is and how to manage it practically.
This effort aligns with Banco Promerica’s involvement in Costa Rica’s National Financial Education Strategy under the Ministry of Economy, Industry and Commerce (MEIC), which is connected to the International Network on Financial Education (INFE) by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). The bank said its participation contributes actively to public policies that strengthen financial education among citizens.
“At Banco Promerica we understand financial education as an enabler of success. Providing children and young people with tools to understand and manage their money not only impacts their present but also expands their future opportunities and strengthens their ability to make informed decisions throughout life,” said Michelle Espinach, Sustainable Banking Manager at Banco Promerica Costa Rica.
Global Money Week is an international initiative promoting learning about responsible money management, saving, and financial planning. It has reached millions of young people across more than 170 countries. Through these actions, Banco Promerica positions itself as an active participant in building skills that foster economic and social development by supporting financial education for new generations.
