M. Mushfiqul Fazal (Ansarey), the new ambassador of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, has presented copies of his credentials to Dr. Arnoldo André, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Worship in Costa Rica.

Ambassador Mushfiqul brings over twenty years of experience in international relations, media, and policy advocacy. He is currently serving as Bangladesh’s ambassador to Mexico since January 2025.

Prior to his current diplomatic assignment, Mushfiqul was executive director and founding member of Right to Freedom, a Washington-based organization focused on human rights. He also served as executive editor for the foreign policy magazine South Asia Perspectives.

His journalism career includes roles as editor and correspondent for Just News BD at the White House, where he covered the United Nations, U.S. Department of State, and Pentagon. Due to critical reporting on human rights issues, he faced exile and collaborated with The Times, Sunday Times, The Wire, and OCCRP. He is also known for hosting “Hello Excellency” on NTV, where he interviewed more than sixty ambassadors and dignitaries.

Additionally, Mushfiqul has been a guest moderator at the Wilson Center; worked as a consultant for the World Bank in Washington; and holds membership in several prominent press organizations.

His background in diplomacy, media engagement, and human rights advocacy highlights his commitment to promoting global cooperation and representing Bangladesh internationally.
