BCCR advises on SINPE Móvil security and reports February 2026 economic growth

The Central Bank of Costa Rica (BCCR) has published a series of messages on its official X account between April 9 and April 11, 2026, addressing both financial transaction security and recent economic data.

On April 9, BCCR advised users to double-check information when using SINPE Móvil, regardless of the amount being transferred. The post reads: “Sin importar el monto por el que vas a realizar un SINPE Móvil, es recomendable que verifiqués los datos del envío.”

A day later, on April 10, BCCR recommended using only official channels for mobile transactions. The bank stated: “Utilizá únicamente los canales oficiales que ofrece tu entidad financiera al realizar un SINPE Móvil. Estas plataformas garantizan la seguridad del servicio y la protección de tu información personal.”

On April 11, BCCR shared updated economic indicators for February 2026. According to the bank: “En febrero 2026, la variación interanual del régimen definitivo fue del 3,8 %. La construcción, la enseñanza, la salud, los servicios financieros y de seguros, los profesionales, administrativos y el comercio explican el 63,2 % del crecimiento. Lea más: https://t.co/7nQSBUzqCg https://t.co/piQb5gPeYI”

SINPE Móvil is a popular digital payment platform in Costa Rica that allows real-time transfers between individuals through their mobile devices. The Central Bank regularly issues public advisories to promote safe use of financial technology and shares updates on key economic metrics such as annual growth rates.
