Costa Rica’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported on its official Twitter account a series of diplomatic activities in Slovenia, highlighting efforts to strengthen ties with both Slovenia and the European Union. The tweets, posted on February 17, 2026, detailed meetings and discussions focused on trade, sustainability, multilateral cooperation, and academic collaboration.

In one post from February 17, 2026, the ministry stated: “En la conversación, destacó el interés de Costa Rica en fortalecer las relaciones con Eslovenia y profundizar los vínculos con la Unión Europea, especialmente en comercio, sostenibilidad y cooperación multilateral.”

Another tweet published later that day described an official visit by Dr. Arnoldo André, Costa Rica’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Ambassador Olga Marta Sauma to the University of Ljubljana. According to the post: “El ministro de Relaciones Exteriores, Dr. Arnoldo André y la embajadora Olga Marta Sauma visitaron la Universidad de Ljubljana, donde se reunieron con el vicerrector Janez Vogrinc.”

A subsequent message elaborated on the topics discussed during this meeting: “Dialogaron sobre cooperación académica, movilidad estudiantil e investigación conjunta entre Costa Rica y Eslovenia. Reafirmaron el papel clave de educación superior para fortalecer vínculos bilaterales y promover iniciativas en innovación y conexión universidad–mercado laboral.”

Costa Rica has pursued deeper engagement with European countries as part of its broader foreign policy strategy. The country maintains active participation in international organizations and prioritizes academic exchange programs to foster innovation and workforce development.
