Costa Rica’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Cancillería Costa Rica, has recently highlighted its leadership role in international forums and regional cooperation efforts through a series of social media posts.
On April 15, 2026, the ministry stated, “Costa Rica celebra liderazgo en el Foro Permanente para Personas Afrodescendientes”. The following day, on April 16, it reiterated this message with another post: “Costa Rica celebra liderazgo en el Foro Permanente para Personas Afrodescendientes”.
Also on April 16, the ministry reported on the participation of Vice Minister Alejandro Solano Ortiz at an international event. According to their tweet from that day: “El viceministro Alejandro Solano Ortiz participó en el Congreso Mundial de Seguridad Fronteriza 2026 en Viena , destacando la urgencia de fortalecer la gestión migratoria y la cooperación regional ante una movilidad humana sin precedentes en América Latina y el Caribe”.
The Permanent Forum for People of African Descent is a United Nations platform aimed at improving the lives and rights of people of African descent globally. Costa Rica has been recognized for its active involvement and leadership within this forum. Additionally, regional migration challenges have become increasingly significant in Latin America and the Caribbean due to rising mobility patterns in recent years.
