During the XV National Poultry Congress organized by the National Association of Poultry Farmers (ANAVI) in Guatemala City, Emilio Porta, General Director of Meat Solutions at CMI, emphasized the importance of focusing on consumers in all company operations. “At CMI, Corporación Multi Inversiones, as a family-owned multilatina corporation with more than 100 years of history, we have a firm purpose to generate sustainable development, well-being and opportunities that transform lives in the communities where we operate. This inspires us to always place the consumer at the center of all our operations,” said Porta.
He added that understanding consumers means listening to their nutritional needs as well as their desires and aspirations when choosing food products. “With our strong corporate purpose: We generate, with family warmth, opportunities that change lives, we have learned that understanding the consumer is listening to their nutritional needs but also attending to their wishes, aspirations and what they value when choosing their food,” Porta stated.
Porta highlighted CMI Alimentos’ ongoing investment in research and technology to anticipate trends and create safe, nutritious products that are convenient for consumers. He also noted the company’s commitment to innovation. “Our commitment to innovation leads us always to want to surprise and exceed the expectations of consumers who trust us, which we achieve by generating experiences that connect emotions with the stories each person builds around food,” he said.
During his remarks, Porta mentioned Pollo Rey’s efforts toward continuous product innovation while maintaining quality at an accessible price point. He reaffirmed Pollo Rey and Toledo’s dedication to keeping consumers central in every decision.
Porta pointed out the growing importance of comprehensive consumer experiences and sustainability within the industry. He described sustainability not only as an ethical obligation but also as a competitive strategy for differentiation. “At CMI, we feed the world to fill it with well-being and adhering to our REIR Values (Responsibility, Excellence, Integrity and Respect), we promote responsible investment and foster sustainability as a competitive strategy,” he explained.
CMI has implemented innovative nutritional solutions for animals that contributed to reducing CO2 emissions by over 256,000 tons in 2023. According to calculations from the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), this reduction is equivalent to planting approximately 4.2 million urban trees. The company also operates poultry farms using renewable energy sources; some farms in Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras generate up to 70% of their energy through solar panels.
Looking ahead, Porta expressed confidence in making a difference not only by providing food but also by bringing families together and creating opportunities for growth. He cited leadership from Juan JosƩ GutiƩrrez Mayorga at CMI Alimentos and Felipe Bosch GutiƩrrez at CMI Capital as driving forces behind this vision.
