The National Road Council (CONAVI) announced on March 25 that tolls will not be collected on route 32, Braulio Carrillo, and route 2, Florencio del Castillo, from noon on Holy Thursday until 6 a.m. on Holy Saturday.
This measure is expected to make travel to the Caribbean and southern regions more efficient during the specified period. According to CONAVI, state-run toll booths at Zurquà (route 32) and the route toward Cartago (route 2) will suspend charges beginning at midday Thursday until early Saturday morning.
Additionally, CONAVI confirmed that tolls are not being collected at any time along national route 1—specifically in General Cañas and Bernardo Soto—since last September.
Authorities urge drivers to reduce their speed when passing through these toll stations despite the absence of payment requirements. They warn that driving too fast could increase the risk of collisions with structures at the toll booths.
The temporary suspension aims to facilitate smoother traffic flow for travelers during one of the busiest holiday periods.
