This December 21, the first consolation lottery draw of 2025 took place, according to the Junta de Protección Social (JPS). The organization announced where the three top prizes were placed at the end of the event.

The grand prize was awarded to number 82 with series 844. According to JPS, this ticket was distributed in downtown San José and San Rafael de Heredia. Winners of this combination are eligible for ₡400 million per full ticket and ₡40 million per fraction.

The second prize went to number 87 with series 641. This ticket was made available through the commercial website, meaning it was sold online. The payout for this combination is ¢80 million per full ticket and ¢8 million per fraction.

The third prize, number 28 with series 215, was distributed in downtown San José and Tibás. This prize pays ₡35 million per full ticket and ₡3.5 million per fraction.

JPS clarified that it refers to “placement” rather than “sale” of these tickets because it is not yet possible to confirm whether sellers—or in the case of the second prize, the website—were able to find buyers for those exact combinations. Final sales will be determined after unsold physical tickets are returned or after analysis of online sales data.
