CoopeAgri R.L. has launched a preventive health program for its members, aiming to detect early risks from exposure to agrochemicals. The initiative, which began on August 11, offers 250 free cholinesterase tests to coffee and sugarcane producers who are part of the cooperative.
Funding for this program comes from resources generated by certified Fair Trade exports. The cooperative allocated a budget of ₡2 million for the project, following approval in Assembly Agreement No. 10 during the 90th Delegates’ Assembly.
The program provides several services at no cost to producers: blood sample collection, medical review and interpretation of results, individual notification of test outcomes, and referrals to Costa Rica’s Social Security Fund (CCSS) for specialized care if needed.
According to CoopeAgri R.L., “Con este programa, CoopeAgri R.L. reafirma su compromiso con la salud y el bienestar de sus asociados, promoviendo prácticas preventivas que protegen tanto a las personas como a las comunidades productoras.”
