CoopeAgri R.L. has launched a free preventive health program for its members, aiming to detect early risks related to agrochemical exposure. The initiative, which began on August 11 through the cooperative’s medical clinic, targets coffee and sugarcane producers who are members of the organization.
The program will provide 250 free cholinesterase tests to these producers. Funding for this effort comes from resources generated by certified Fair Trade exports, with a budget of ₡2 million approved under Agreement No. 10 of Assembly of Delegates No. 90.
The no-cost service includes blood sample collection, medical review and interpretation of results, individual notification of findings, and referrals to the Costa Rican Social Security Fund (CCSS) for specialized care if needed.
“Con este programa, CoopeAgri R.L. reafirma su compromiso con la salud y el bienestar de sus asociados, promoviendo prácticas preventivas que protegen tanto a las personas como a las comunidades productoras,” said the cooperative in its announcement.
This initiative is part of CoopeAgri’s ongoing efforts to support its members’ health and promote preventive practices within agricultural communities.
