CoopeTarrazú has received the Commitment to Excellence award at the 2025 Business Excellence Congress, an event organized by the Costa Rican Chamber of Industries. The award recognizes organizations that promote responsible and innovative practices aligned with continuous improvement.

The cooperative was recognized for its Comprehensive Coffee Byproduct Utilization and Bioinput Transfer Strategy. This initiative aims to optimize resources and significantly reduce environmental impact. According to CoopeTarrazú, one of the main outcomes of this strategy is a reduction of up to 75% in methane emissions from coffee pulp management.

The project competed in categories such as Social Responsibility, Continuous Improvement, Processes, and Innovation after undergoing a technical evaluation process.

“This is recognition for the quality and continuous improvement carried out by the Cooperative every year, both organizationally and operationally. It is an award deserved by all members, and we hope to continue working hard along these lines,” said Juan Carlos Álvarez Ulate, General Manager of CoopeTarrazú.

Jimmy Porras, manager of Innovation and Sustainability at CoopeTarrazú, explained that the evaluation included a detailed verification process: “The work done by three evaluators consists of verifying that what is being done is correct, that records are kept, and that there is technical support before issuing a rating. We also received feedback to continue improving.”

During the event held at the Costa Rica Convention Center, Casa CoopeTarrazú had a notable presence. The team offered cappuccinos and tastings from all cooperative coffee brands to introduce attendees to the essence and quality of Los Santos coffee.
