The Costa Rican Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Worship issued alerts for its citizens residing or traveling in several Mexican states, citing increased security incidents. The ministry also provided recommendations and emergency contact information through its official social media account.

On February 23, 2026, the ministry posted: “El Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores y Culto alerta a las personas costarricenses que residen o se encuentran temporalmente en Jalisco, Tamaulipas, Michoacán, Guerrero, Nuevo León, Guanajuato, Nayarit y Aguascalientes ante el incremento de incidentes de seguridad.”

A subsequent message on the same day advised caution and shared emergency contacts: “Se recomienda mantener la calma, extremar precauciones, evitar desplazamientos innecesarios y no acudir a sitios públicos concurridos. En caso de emergencia: concr-mx@rree.go.cr +(52) 555525-7764”

In another update dated February 25, 2026, the ministry reported on diplomatic activities in Europe: ” En París, el viceministro de Asuntos Multilaterales, Alejandro Solano, impulsa la agenda internacional de en su gira por Europa”.

The Costa Rican Ministry of Foreign Affairs regularly issues travel advisories to protect its nationals abroad during periods of heightened risk. Such warnings are often prompted by increased violence or instability in specific regions.
