During the 2025-2026 Zapote festivities, the Costa Rican Red Cross attended to 100 individuals. Of those treated, seven were transported to medical centers: five in stable condition and two in critical condition.

The organization reported that out of the total cases, 86 involved traumatic emergencies, 13 were medical emergencies, and one was a gynecological-obstetric emergency. The Red Cross emphasized that no fatalities occurred during the event.

Most incidents—90 in total—took place in the bullring area, while ten happened at the fairgrounds. The Red Cross deployed 100 personnel and 25 emergency vehicles for these festivities.

The institution reminded the public of “the importance of prevention and rapid assistance as key elements to protect visitors during the festivities,” according to their statement.

On Tuesday night, an improvised bullfighter was injured after being struck by a bull during activities at Zapote. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was urgently transported to a hospital for medical attention. He sustained multiple traumas as a result of the incident.
