A long-running character from the animated series “The Simpsons” is leaving the show in 2026. Over its 37 seasons, “The Simpsons” has seen the departure of several key and secondary characters, often due to creative decisions, social changes, or the passing of voice actors.
This time, the character exiting is Duffman, known as the mascot for Duff beer. The farewell takes place in episode 13 of season 37, titled “Severance.” In this episode, Duffman is dismissed from his role as Duff’s spokesperson and begins working for a different company focused on marketing and sales. Marge and Homer Simpson also join this new workplace and find success there.
Duffman, whose full name is Barry Duffman, visits the Simpson family at their home to explain that Duff beer has decided to retire his image permanently. He says: “All the old advertising methods are now out of fashion,” providing an explanation for his departure from the series.
Over the years, other notable characters such as Maude Flanders, Edna Krabappel, Troy McClure, and Apu Nahasapeemapetilon have also been written out of “The Simpsons.”
