A strong earthquake was felt during the live broadcast of ‘La Platea’ on TD Más, according to an April 28 report. The incident occurred while the program was airing as usual, with experienced journalist Christian Sandoval hosting.

The tremor struck at 9:49 p.m., with its epicenter near the canton of Acosta and a magnitude of 5.0 Mw. During a segment featuring David Diach holding a promotional ball, the camera shook noticeably. Sandoval reacted by saying, “Epa.”

Panelist El Mambo Núñez responded with “Buen meneo,” while another participant referenced the well-known phrase “Calma” from Jill Paer. Sandoval then addressed viewers directly and said, calling for calm among those watching at home.

Footage showed a ceiling lamp still swaying in the TD Más studio located in Sabana Oeste after the quake had passed. Despite the interruption, the program continued as people across Costa Rica began sharing information about the earthquake on social media and messaging groups.

Sandoval and fellow panelist Alemán described feeling that it lasted long and was intense.
