A man was shot and killed on March 13 in the community of Agrimaga, located in the Río Jiménez district of Guácimo, Limón province. According to preliminary information, at least five masked men arrived at the victim’s home, which is situated about three kilometers west of the Agrimaga water tank.
The incident occurred while the man, estimated to be between 40 and 45 years old, was inside one of his cattle trucks. Witnesses said the suspects entered through the back of the property, which borders a farm where the victim kept livestock, and opened fire on him. The man was found dead between two houses.
Neighbors who spoke anonymously said that after shooting the victim outside, the attackers also entered the house and fired several times at people inside. Emergency responders from Cruz Roja confirmed that the man had no vital signs upon arrival. They also attended to an adult woman who did not suffer serious injuries and remained at the scene.
Family members stated that they believe this was not a robbery but a targeted attack intended to kill him. Neighbors added that the deceased was originally from San José and worked as a cattle rancher.
Judicial authorities are now handling both removal of the body and ongoing investigations to clarify what happened and determine responsibility.
