At least five people were injured in a shooting near the Cieneguita intersection in Limón on April 8. The incident occurred when three individuals on motorcycles opened fire at a group of people gathered by the train tracks, reportedly while they were eating.

The attack took place in front of a restaurant and close to a traffic light along Route 32. Initial reports indicated between four and six people had been wounded, but authorities later confirmed at least five victims.

Most of those injured sustained gunshot wounds to their legs. The Costa Rican Red Cross responded to the emergency and transported one person, who was reported to be in critical condition, to a medical center.

As of the latest updates, officials had not released information about the identities of the attackers or any possible motive for the shooting. The case remains under investigation.
