Grupo ICE presented its 2024 Sustainability Report on Thursday at the National Auditorium of the Children’s Museum. The event was attended by the Board of Directors and management from ICE and its affiliated companies, as well as strategic partners, stakeholders, and media representatives.
The corporation, which includes ICE, CNFL, RACSA, and Gestión Cobro, outlined key achievements in environmental, social, and economic areas for the period between January 1 and December 31, 2024. The launch of the campaign “Juntos Somos Sostenibilidad” also took place during the event.
One of the main highlights in the report is Grupo ICE’s financial recovery. Over the past three years, it reduced its financial debt by 28% and improved its risk ratings. The company also reactivated its Rural Electrification Program (PER) and restarted a portfolio of electricity generation projects. These projects are expected to add more than 800 megawatts of renewable energy plants to the National Electric System (SEN) between 2024 and 2032.
In telecommunications, ICE expanded fiber optic coverage by 3,671 kilometers last year, enabling service to 78,720 homes. RACSA launched Costa Rica’s first 5G network using FWA wireless technology for commercial and corporate clients. This new network offers speeds up to one gigabit per second.
“En 2024 llevamos electricidad por primera vez a 3.000 personas. Habilitar la energía a estos hogares marca una diferencia sustancial en sus vidas, y ese es el sentido de nuestra Corporación. Existimos para proporcionar bienestar a todos los habitantes del país,” said Marco Acuña, president of Grupo ICE.
