A group of 45 teachers, principals, and supervisors from the Ministry of Education of Guatemala visited the Regional Directorate of Education in Occidente to exchange classroom experiences and teaching practices with their Costa Rican counterparts.

During their visit, the Guatemalan educators went to Colegio Diurno de Naranjo, where they met with local school leaders and learned about the functions of various regional education offices in both countries. The delegation also participated in a cultural exchange at Instituto Julio Acosta.

The exchange is expected to continue, with teachers from Occidente planning a reciprocal visit to Guatemala to observe educational practices there.

Miguel Sibaja, regional director of Education for Occidente, explained that the initiative resulted from “the warmth of the educators who came to make this meeting possible” and expressed hope that ongoing communication would strengthen education in both regions.

Sibaja added, “We want to hold a virtual meeting with students from both countries to strengthen ties of friendship.”
