Keylor Navas has renewed his contract with Pumas until 2027 and played a key role in the team’s 1-0 victory over América on March 22.
The match, known as the “Clásico Capitalino,” was closely contested, with both teams fighting for dominance. Navas made at least four crucial saves during the game, helping to keep a clean sheet for his side.
The decisive moment came late in the match when Pumas were awarded a penalty. Robert Morales converted the spot kick in stoppage time, scoring in the 90+4 minute to secure the win for Pumas at home.
With this result, Pumas climbed to fourth place in the Liga MX Clausura tournament standings with 23 points after 12 rounds. Chivas de Guadalajara leads the league with 30 points, followed by Cruz Azul with 27 and Toluca with 25.
Navas’s performance underlined his importance to the team following his contract extension. The goalkeeper’s experience and composure were evident throughout the match as he provided stability for Pumas against their rivals.
