The Observatorio Vulcanológico y Sismológico de Costa Rica (Ovsicori) is the national authority responsible for monitoring earthquakes and volcanic activity.
Minutes later at 02:21 UTC, La Nación posted about the impact of the earthquake during a live broadcast: “Presentadoras se llevaron gran susto durante programa en vivo por fuerte temblor: vea el momento https://t.co/m7jlHP4RZb” (January 20, 2026).
