In a post dated January 9, 2026, La Nación reported: “PPSO cuestiona afirmaciones hechas por Alpízar sobre la visita de Nayib Bukele y una supuesta injerencia indebida en el proceso electoral.” The statement highlights that the PPSO challenged remarks made by Alpízar regarding Nayib Bukele’s visit and alleged undue interference in the electoral process.

Later the same day, La Nación shared another update about a local athlete: “Joel Campbell revivió el momento en el que volvió al fútbol nacional, la decisión que tomó y por qué lo hizo.” The tweet references Joel Campbell discussing his return to national football and the reasoning behind his decision.

In another report from January 9, 2026, La Nación addressed public safety issues: “Incrementan asaltos a turistas extranjeros en Airbnb y otras viviendas de alquiler en Costa Rica, alerta OIJ.” According to this alert from OIJ (Organismo de Investigación Judicial), there has been an increase in assaults targeting foreign tourists staying at Airbnb and other rental properties in Costa Rica.
