La Nación, a prominent Costa Rican newspaper, shared updates on sports and regional affairs through its official X account on November 15, 2025.

In one post, La Nación reported on statements from the coach of Panama’s national football team: “Thomas Christiansen, técnico de Panamá: ‘No voy a pensar en el repechaje’” (November 15, 2025). The statement refers to Thomas Christiansen’s stance regarding Panama’s position in upcoming qualification matches.

The newspaper also informed readers about lottery results in another post: “Chances de la JPS: vea los números ganadores del sorteo de este viernes 14 de noviembre” (November 15, 2025). This message directs followers to check the winning numbers for the JPS draw held on November 14.

A third tweet highlighted regional press freedom concerns. According to La Nación’s report: “Periodista nicaragüense exiliada dice que Costa Rica le sugirió retirarse tras amenazas: ‘justo lo que quiere Ortega’” (November 15, 2025). The tweet references a Nicaraguan journalist in exile who stated that Costa Rican authorities suggested she leave the country following threats—an outcome she described as aligning with the wishes of Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega.

Costa Rica has been recognized as a destination for Nicaraguan exiles due to ongoing political repression under President Ortega. Many journalists have sought refuge there after facing threats or persecution in Nicaragua. The Junta de Protección Social (JPS) is responsible for organizing lotteries and other charitable games in Costa Rica.
