La Nación, a prominent Costa Rican news outlet, posted several updates on February 17, 2026, covering local business decisions, legislative disputes, and regional political appointments.

In one post from that day, La Nación reported on a store’s policy regarding a specific subculture: ” Tienda costarricense prohíbe ingreso a ‘therians’ ticos y revela insólitos pedidos que llegaron a su local https://t.co/TDLLTK4ufJ” (February 17, 2026). The tweet highlights the shop’s decision to prohibit entry to Costa Rican “therians,” individuals who identify as non-human animals either spiritually or psychologically. The message also mentions unusual requests received by the establishment.

Later that evening, La Nación covered an exchange in the legislature involving two public figures: ” Eliécer Feinzaig tilda a Pilar Cisneros de ‘mentirosa’, en media discusión legislativa; jefa chavista lo niega: este fue el intercambio https://t.co/eE8oYdKR4x” (February 17, 2026). According to the tweet, Eliécer Feinzaig accused Pilar Cisneros of lying during a legislative debate. Cisneros denied the accusation. Both politicians are active participants in Costa Rica’s political scene.

A third update shared by La Nación announced a new leadership role for a former national leader: ” Expresidente Carlos Alvarado asume presidencia de grupo regional contra el crimen organizado, desde la democracia https://t.co/khwnDOUd9t” (February 17, 2026). This tweet reports that former President Carlos Alvarado has taken over as president of a regional group dedicated to combating organized crime while upholding democratic values.

Therianthropy is an identity subculture present globally and has been subject to debate regarding its public acceptance. Political tensions between lawmakers such as Feinzaig and Cisneros have occurred previously within Costa Rica’s Legislative Assembly. Meanwhile, Carlos Alvarado served as President of Costa Rica from 2018 to 2022 and remains influential in Central American politics through his new position leading efforts against organized crime.
