La Nación, a prominent Costa Rican news outlet, published several updates on September 20, 2025, covering international and domestic developments.

On U.S. immigration policy, La Nación reported: “Trump instaura una tarjeta de residencia ‘dorada’ que cuesta $1 millón” (September 20, 2025). This announcement refers to a new “golden residence card” program introduced by former President Donald Trump, which sets the price for residency at $1 million.

In trade relations, La Nación noted ongoing negotiations between Costa Rica and China: “Costa Rica busca que China modifique lista de desgravación en el TLC; son al menos 6 bienes” (September 20, 2025). The report highlights Costa Rica’s efforts to persuade China to alter the tariff reduction list under their Free Trade Agreement (TLC), specifically concerning at least six products. Since establishing diplomatic ties in 2007, Costa Rica and China have expanded economic cooperation through trade agreements aimed at increasing exports from both countries.

On global affairs, the publication shared remarks from a United Nations official: “El mundo no debe sentirse ‘intimidado’ por Israel, dice jefe de la ONU a la AFP” (September 20, 2025). According to this statement attributed to the UN chief in an interview with Agence France-Presse (AFP), the world should not feel “intimidated” by Israel.

La Nación has been recognized as one of Costa Rica’s leading newspapers since its founding in 1946. Its coverage spans national politics, international relations, and major economic issues affecting Central America and beyond.
