La Nación, a prominent Costa Rican newspaper, published a series of posts on February 12, 2026, covering topics related to espionage and financial fraud. The posts included information about the CIA’s recruitment strategies in China and warnings from Banco Nacional regarding an increase in scams during Valentine’s Day.

In one post dated February 12, 2026, La Nación shared: ” Así es como la CIA busca reclutar espías en China: Vea el video https://t.co/UiPtROUHcj”. Another post from the same day warned readers about rising fraud cases: ” Banco Nacional alerta por aumento de estafas con ‘puntos por caducar’ en San Valentín: así operan los sitios falsos https://t.co/Nv3Grr82vc”. Shortly after, a similar warning was reiterated: ” Banco Nacional alerta por aumento de estafas con ‘puntos por caducar’ en San Valentín: así operan los sitios falsos https://t.co/0GvRulSAbV”.

Banco Nacional has previously cautioned customers about various types of online scams, particularly those that target individuals during holidays or special events by exploiting reward point expiration notifications. These fraudulent schemes often use fake websites to trick users into providing personal or financial information.
