On January 4, 2026, La Nación reported: “Las investigaciones relacionadas con la exportación de cocaína líquida comenzaron en junio de 2022. Casi año y medio después, se concretó la captura de 12 personas, incluidos costarricenses y colombianos.” According to the post, the investigation into liquid cocaine exports began in June 2022 and resulted in the arrest of twelve individuals nearly eighteen months later. The detainees include both Costa Rican and Colombian nationals.

In another update posted on the same day, La Nación stated: “Presidente venezolano fue trasladado a la sede de la DEA en Estados Unidos”. The tweet announced that the Venezuelan president had been transferred to the headquarters of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).

Additionally, La Nación shared a weather forecast for Costa Rica: “El IMN pronostica para este domingo 4 de enero de 2026 lluvias aisladas en el Pacífico y el Caribe, con temperaturas cálidas y menor influencia de los vientos alisios.” The report from the Instituto Meteorológico Nacional (IMN) predicted isolated showers in Pacific and Caribbean regions of Costa Rica for Sunday, January 4, 2026. Warm temperatures and reduced influence from trade winds were also expected.
