La Nación, a major Costa Rican news outlet, reported on several incidents in Costa Rica through its official Twitter account on November 18, 2025.
According to the tweet, the suspects involved in the shooting fled and left a vehicle near Route 32.
Later that day at 00:46 UTC, La Nación posted another update regarding an incident involving theft after a traffic accident: “Personas tomaron cajas con pollos tras accidente de camión y ahora son buscadas por el OIJ”. The message states that individuals took boxes of chickens following a truck accident and are now being sought by the Judicial Investigation Organization (OIJ).
At the same time, La Nación also highlighted security concerns within educational institutions: “Universidades públicas han recibido tres amenazas de ataque en el último mes: esto tienen en común”. The tweet notes that public universities have received three attack threats over the past month.
These incidents reflect ongoing public safety challenges in Costa Rica. The OIJ is responsible for investigating crimes such as theft and violent incidents throughout the country. Public universities have increasingly faced security threats in recent years, prompting authorities to implement additional preventive measures.
