La Nación, a prominent Costa Rican news outlet, reported on September 25, 2025, about recent statements and events involving the Palestinian leader Mahmud Abás and planned power outages in Limón. The reports cover Abás’s address at the United Nations as well as local infrastructure updates.

In its first report of the day, La Nación stated: “El líder palestino Mahmud Abás se dirigió a la ONU, donde condenó el antisemitismo y las acciones de Hamás. ¿Qué pidió a la comunidad internacional?” (September 25, 2025).

Shortly after, the outlet published information regarding scheduled power interruptions in the Limón region: “Cortes de luz programados por el ICE en Limón este viernes: estos son los horarios” (September 25, 2025). These power cuts are part of routine maintenance managed by Instituto Costarricense de Electricidad (ICE), which regularly informs residents about temporary service suspensions to ensure safety and network upgrades.

Later that day, La Nación highlighted further remarks from Mahmud Abás related to disarmament and international recognition: “Líder palestino asegura que Hamás deberá que entregar sus armas y pide reconocimiento ante la ONU” (September 25, 2025).

Mahmud Abás is recognized as the President of the Palestinian Authority and has previously addressed both condemnation of violence and calls for international recognition in forums such as the United Nations General Assembly. Scheduled power outages are a standard practice by ICE to maintain grid reliability and public safety across different regions in Costa Rica.
