La Nación, a prominent Costa Rican newspaper, reported on several ongoing investigations and international legal actions through its social media posts on February 4, 2026.

In a post published at 19:35 UTC, La Nación stated: ” OIJ investiga hallazgo de restos óseos en una finca en Pérez Zeledón https://t.co/COmwHU30WC”. The tweet refers to an investigation by the Judicial Investigation Agency (OIJ) regarding the discovery of skeletal remains at a farm in Pérez Zeledón.

Shortly after, at 19:40 UTC, La Nación posted: ” Encuentran cuerpo en descomposición en un guindo en Santa Cruz https://t.co/61W1OWrSlv”. This report concerns the finding of a decomposed body in a ravine in Santa Cruz.

Later the same day, at 19:46 UTC, La Nación shared news of an international development involving Argentina and Venezuela. The tweet reads: ” Argentina pide a Estados Unidos la extradición de Nicolás Maduro por crímenes de lesa humanidad https://t.co/2HNAj9B6hB”. In this post, La Nación reports that Argentina has formally requested the United States to extradite Nicolás Maduro on charges related to crimes against humanity.

The OIJ (Organismo de Investigación Judicial) is Costa Rica’s primary criminal investigative agency and frequently leads probes into serious crimes such as homicide or unidentified remains. Both Pérez Zeledón and Santa Cruz have previously been sites of similar investigations due to their geographic and demographic characteristics. Regarding the international legal request, calls for accountability over alleged human rights violations by Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro have been ongoing for years; several countries and organizations have pursued legal action against him under international law frameworks.
