La Nación, a major Costa Rican news outlet, published several reports on November 19, 2025, highlighting law enforcement activity, scientific discovery, and a philanthropic event.

In one post, La Nación reported that “OIJ debió usar retroexcavadora para entrar a ‘búnker’; sospechoso lanzó droga al techo de la casa vecina” (November 19, 2025). The report detailed an operation by the Judicial Investigation Agency (OIJ), which required heavy machinery to access a fortified structure. According to the tweet, the suspect attempted to dispose of illegal substances by throwing them onto a neighboring rooftop.

Another post shared scientific news: “Por primera vez, científicos observan misteriosas ballenas picudas en el Pacífico de México” (November 19, 2025). This marks the first recorded observation of beaked whales in Mexico’s Pacific waters by scientists.

A third tweet highlighted a fundraising event: “Lorena Clare, esposa del expresidente Miguel Ángel Rodríguez, fue homenajeada en una gala para recaudar fondos para la sala de quimioterapia del Hospital San Juan de Dios.” (November 19, 2025). Lorena Clare was honored at this gala for her support of efforts to improve chemotherapy facilities at Hospital San Juan de Dios.

The OIJ is Costa Rica’s principal investigative police agency and often conducts operations against organized crime. Beaked whales are rarely seen due to their elusive nature and deep-sea habitat. Hospital San Juan de Dios is one of Costa Rica’s main public hospitals and regularly hosts fundraising events to enhance its medical services.
