La Nación, a prominent Costa Rican news outlet, published several updates on January 7, 2026, addressing diverse topics including historical research, criminal investigations, and political discourse.

In one post from January 7, La Nación stated: “Determinar la verdad sobre la historia de los Reyes Magos ha intrigado a los estudiosos por siglos.” The tweet discusses the longstanding academic interest in uncovering the truth behind the story of the Three Wise Men.

Later that day, another update reported developments in a criminal investigation: “Hermanos desaparecidos en Tucurrique fueron enterrados en fosa clandestina, confirma OIJ”. The tweet reveals that missing siblings in Tucurrique were found buried in a clandestine grave, as confirmed by Costa Rica’s Judicial Investigation Organism (OIJ).

In a separate tweet on the same date, La Nación addressed issues related to misinformation during an election period: “Manipulan imagen de Ariel Robles en emprendimiento de café para atacar al candidato en redes”. This post highlights how an image of candidate Ariel Robles was manipulated within the context of a coffee business and used against him on social media platforms.

The history of the Three Wise Men is often debated among historians and theologians due to limited evidence regarding their identities and origins. In Costa Rica, forced disappearances have been investigated by agencies such as the OIJ for decades. Additionally, misinformation campaigns targeting political candidates through doctored images or misleading content are common challenges faced during election cycles globally.
