La Nación, a major Costa Rican newspaper, shared several updates on January 19, 2026, covering social media reactions to a video recorded by an Argentine in Costa Rica, pension payment schedules for retired teachers, and information from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

Jupema is the organization responsible for managing pensions for public education workers in Costa Rica.

Later the same day, La Nación addressed a publication from the U.S. government: “El Departamento de Seguridad Nacional de los Estados Unidos publica en su sitio web oficial la lista de los “peores” extranjeros detenidos por el Servicio de Inmigración y Control de Aduanas (ICE, por sus siglas en inglés).” The U.S. Department of Homeland Security regularly releases lists related to immigration enforcement actions through ICE.

La Nación is one of the leading news outlets in Costa Rica and frequently covers topics relevant to both national and international audiences.
