La Nación, a prominent Costa Rican news outlet, published several updates on September 17, 2025, covering sports commentary and two violent incidents in the country.

In one post, La Nación quoted Óscar ‘Macho’ Ramírez addressing a tactical decision by another coach: “Óscar ‘Macho’ Ramírez: ‘No es culpa mía que Paté metiera nueve atrás’” (September 17, 2025).

Later that day, the outlet reported on a fatal shooting in San José: “Homicidio en San José: hombre muere baleado tras atacar con un tubo a dueño de hotel” (September 17, 2025). The incident involved a man who was shot and killed after allegedly attacking a hotel owner with a metal pipe.

Additionally, La Nación covered an assault against police officers in Limón. According to their report: “Ataque a Fuerza Pública en Limón: sujetos usaron un fusil de guerra contra oficiales” (September 17, 2025). This attack reportedly involved assailants using a military-grade rifle against members of the national police force.

Costa Rica has seen ongoing concerns about public safety and rising violence in recent years. Incidents involving firearms and attacks on law enforcement have prompted increased attention from authorities and media outlets.
