La Nación reports on robberies, lottery results, and ongoing accident investigation
La Nación, a prominent Costa Rican newspaper, posted updates on January 24, 2026 regarding recent events including robberies at a political party headquarters, lottery results, and the status of an aviation accident investigation.
In a post dated January 24, 2026, La Nación reported: “PUSC denuncia dos robos en su sede central en 48 horas: sustraen computadoras del departamento electoral https://t.co/zuHWRFpvG6”. The tweet highlights that the Partido Unidad Social Cristiana (PUSC) has denounced two robberies at its central office within a span of 48 hours. Computers from the electoral department were reportedly stolen during these incidents.
Shortly after, another post by La Nación shared information related to national lottery results: “Chances de la JPS: vea los números ganadores del sorteo de este viernes 23 de enero https://t.co/ZVxxC0E9wm”. This tweet directs readers to view the winning numbers from the Junta de Protección Social (JPS) draw held on Friday, January 23.
Later that night, La Nación provided an update on an ongoing investigation into a fatal plane crash involving Yeison Jiménez: “La investigación sobre las causas del mortal accidente de avión en que falleció Yeison Jiménez sigue tres líneas. https://t.co/CmMGlj6Z3R”. According to the post, authorities are pursuing three lines of inquiry into the causes of the deadly accident.
The Partido Unidad Social Cristiana is one of Costa Rica’s main political parties and has previously been subject to security concerns. The Junta de Protección Social regularly conducts public lotteries in Costa Rica with wide participation. Aviation accidents in Latin America often prompt multi-agency investigations focusing on technical failure, weather conditions, and human error.
