The Ministry of National Planning and Economic Policy (MIDEPLAN) of Costa Rica published several updates on its official Twitter account regarding recent activities related to public investment, monitoring systems, and international cooperation.
On November 11, 2025, MIDEPLAN reported, “#InversionesPúblicas | Con el apoyo del BID, Mideplan realizó una capacitación sobre el uso del Sistema Nacional de Inversión Pública. El espacio fortaleció las capacidades técnicas de instituciones públicas en formulación y evaluación de proyectos.” This post indicated that with the support of the Inter-American Development Bank (BID), a training session was held to enhance technical capacities within public institutions for project formulation and evaluation.
The following day, on November 12, 2025, the ministry shared another update: “#UnidadDeSeguimiento│Mideplan en el marco de su mandato normativo y función rectora del Sistema Nacional de Planificación, desarrolla el curso “Buenas Prácticas para un Sistema de Seguimiento”. #Mideplan #Seguimiento #Capacitación #GestióndeResultados #Planificación”. This tweet announced the development of a course titled “Buenas Prácticas para un Sistema de Seguimiento,” aligned with MIDEPLAN’s regulatory mandate and oversight function within the National Planning System.
On November 13, 2025, MIDEPLAN also highlighted Costa Rica’s participation in an international event: “#CooperaciónInternacional│Costa Rica participó en la Novena Reunión Internacional sobre Cooperación Triangular, organizada por el Instituto Camões de Cooperación de la República de Portugal y la OCDE, celebrada en Lisboa los días 29 y 30 de octubre de 2025. #Mideplan #OCEDE #CR”. The tweet referenced Costa Rica’s involvement in the Ninth International Meeting on Triangular Cooperation organized by Portugal’s Institute Camões for Cooperation and the OECD in Lisbon at the end of October 2025.
MIDEPLAN is responsible for national planning policy and economic development coordination in Costa Rica. The Inter-American Development Bank (BID) often supports member countries like Costa Rica through funding and technical assistance aimed at strengthening institutional capacity. The OECD regularly collaborates with member and partner countries to improve policy effectiveness through forums such as those mentioned by MIDEPLAN.
