The Ministerio de Hacienda de Costa Rica has released several updates on its official Twitter account, addressing customs procedures and upcoming virtual seminars relevant to taxpayers and transport operators.

On January 8, 2026, the Ministry shared information from the SecretarĆa de Integración Económica Centroamericana (SIECA) concerning new requirements for international customs transit.

Later that day, the Ministry announced a virtual seminar aimed at educating participants about submitting monthly summary declarations for clients, suppliers, and specific expenses not covered by electronic receipts. The tweet read: “Charla virtual: Declaremos juntos: Presentación de la Declaración Resumen Mensual de Clientes, Proveedores y Gastos EspecĆficos que no estĆ©n amparados en un comprobante electrónico

On January 9, 2026, another online session was publicized regarding the use of proportionality in Value Added Tax (IVA) calculations for the year 2025. The Ministry posted: “Charla Virtual: Declaramos Juntos: Impuesto al Valor Agregado (IVA) cuando se usa la proporcionalidad en 2025

These communications form part of ongoing efforts by the Ministerio de Hacienda to inform stakeholders about procedural changes and compliance requirements. SIECA is an intergovernmental body that promotes economic integration among Central American countries. The DUCA-T document referenced in the first tweet is required for cross-border customs transit operations within Central America and must be generated and transmitted by drivers after prior registration.

Costa Rican tax authorities frequently offer educational sessions to clarify regulatory obligations for businesses and individuals. These webinars aim to increase compliance with tax rules such as proper declaration of transactions not backed by electronic invoices and understanding updated VAT regulations.
