The Ministerio de Salud de Costa Rica, the government agency responsible for public health in Costa Rica, issued a series of posts on its official Twitter account at the end of 2025 and the beginning of 2026, focusing on public safety and health promotion.
On December 31, 2025, the Ministry warned about the dangers of fireworks. In its post, it stated: “La pólvora no es un juego:
At the start of the new year, on January 1, 2026, the Ministry shared a message emphasizing health and well-being for all citizens: ” ¡Bienvenido 2026!
Later that day, another post highlighted chronic disease prevention through healthy habits.
According to international organizations such as the World Health Organization (WHO), chronic diseases—including heart disease, diabetes, and certain cancers—are largely preventable through lifestyle changes like balanced nutrition and regular physical activity.
Costa Rica’s Ministry of Health has a history of using social media to promote preventive health measures and provide timely advice during holidays or periods with increased risk factors.
