The Ministry of Public Education (MEP) has launched an informational campaign titled “What You Should Know About Private Education.” The initiative aims to provide clear and precise information on important issues affecting the management of private educational institutions.

According to MEP, the campaign will address topics such as virtual education in private schools, the nature of contractual relationships between families and educational centers, the prohibition against withholding grades or transfer documents due to outstanding debts, and the application of the official school calendar in private institutions. Other relevant subjects will also be covered.

“The information presented is key for families to make informed decisions, carry out procedures efficiently, and seeks to foster safe educational experiences,” stated MEP officials.

The campaign encourages families and the public to seek information before enrolling students, consult the list of accredited educational centers by MEP, and understand how to express dissatisfaction with a private school.

In addition to this campaign, other activities involving students are ongoing. Over 12,700 primary and secondary students are participating in the national stage of the Student Arts Festival (FEA), held at Parque Diversiones. The National ExpoTÉCNICA 2025 will bring together technical education students from across Costa Rica to present innovative solutions for current challenges. Furthermore, 35 students from scientific, humanistic, public, and private schools received medals at the XXVIII Costa Rican Physics Olympiad (Olcofi).

The administration of Colegio de Limón Diurno is hosting a workshop for more than 1,600 parents and guardians from November 24 to 28. In another development supporting indigenous communities, new shelters have been built for Roca Quemada Rural High School in Alto Chirripó’s Cabécar Indigenous Territory.

Additionally, primary and secondary students demonstrated entrepreneurial skills at a regional cooperative market organized by MEP’s Department of Business Management and Cooperative Education as part of school cooperative activities.
