The Ministry of Education Publica (MEP) and the Asociación Amigos del Aprendizaje (ADA) announced on March 11 that the ¡A CREAR! program will be implemented in 30 schools across three educational regions, benefiting more than 4,000 students from third to sixth grade.

The expansion of ¡A CREAR! marks a significant effort to encourage reading and writing among Costa Rican students. The initiative aims to foster a love for these skills while supporting teachers in applying the communicative approach outlined in the national Spanish curriculum.

Renata Villers, executive director of ADA, said, “El proyecto ¡A CREAR!

The program includes Creative Writing Notebooks approved by MEP and aligned with the Spanish curriculum. These materials were developed by ADA with input from Costa Rican teachers and specialists and feature sixty exercises designed to spark student interest and creativity at each grade level from third through sixth.

¡A CREAR! also offers over twenty-two ready-to-use lessons as well as guidance materials, modeling videos, and training workshops for teachers based on experiences from hundreds of educators and thousands of students—especially those involved in the Mi Cuento Fantástico National Children’s Writing Contest.

The broader impact of this initiative is expected to enhance communication skills among students while providing educators with practical tools for classroom instruction.
