Ministry of Health announces leadership change in Directorate General

The Ministry of Health has announced that Dr. Bernny Francisco Villarreal Cortés will step down from his role as Director General of Health for personal reasons. His last day in the position will be February 20.

Dr. Villarreal expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve in a key role within the institution, which acts as a link with all health governing areas and central-level departments. “I am grateful for the opportunity to work in such an important position that serves as a liaison with all Health Governing Areas and central-level directorates,” said Dr. Villarreal.

The ministry also stated that Deputy Minister of Health, Dr. Mariela Marín Mena, will take on the responsibilities of Director General of Health in addition to her current duties.

“The Ministry of Health thanks Dr. Villarreal for all his work and wishes him much success,” according to the official statement.
