The Ministry of Health announced on April 14 that a recent outbreak of diarrheal disease in the canton of San Ramón, Alajuela, has been effectively contained.
This announcement is important for residents and families in the affected area, as it addresses concerns about public health and community safety.
According to the Ministry, the outbreak was limited to a group of cases caused by bacteria within a single family unit and among people with close contact. Officials said there has been no spread to the wider community, schools, or other public spaces. The Ministry also confirmed that water was not identified as a source of infection.
Health teams activated response protocols immediately after being notified about the situation on April 7. These actions helped contain the outbreak quickly and prevent further cases from emerging. The Ministry noted that such events can occur in family settings due to close contact or shared food consumption.
The Ministry emphasized that maintaining basic hygiene and preventive measures remains essential for protecting individual and family health. It reiterated that “the situation is under control” and urged residents to continue practicing good hygiene.
